The Commons Gallery is blooming with an exhibition of flower paintings by Alix Hallman Travis in celebration of the Spring on Main festival, Main Street, Margaretville, Saturday, May 9. Travis has mined her collection of paintings, accrued over twelve years of painting in the Catskills, to fill the entire gallery with luminous buds and blossoms of every kind and color. The viewer can almost smell them! Observed on local roadsides or in area gardens and painted outside, en plein air, many of these paintings have never been exhibited before. The exhibit, “In Bloom” opens May 9 and will run through June 27. As you visit the festival exhibits, stores and vendors along Main Street stop in and smell the roses at the Commons Gallery, in the Commons, Main Street, Margaretville. Open the day of the festival, May 9, noon-4:00, First Friday, June 5, 5:00-8:00 and most Saturdays, noon to 4:00 or by appointment or chance. Call 607 326-7073.
