Scenic Byway Group Seeks Ideas for Marketing Program
The Central Catskills Collaborative will kick off promotion of the Catskill Mountains Scenic Byway with two public meetings along the byway. The meetings will be hosted by the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce, who received a NYS Tourism grant to market the scenic byway, which runs from Olive to Andes along Route 28.
The project will undertake several promotional components, including the development of a new website, social and printed media, and a series of events in 2016. “In order to be most effective, the project needs input from local businesses in the communities along the corridor” said Carol O’Beirne, Executive Director of the Chamber. “Essentially, we will be asking business owners how byway marketing efforts can support their businesses and communities. In turn, we would like meeting participants to share their ideas about working together to market our region.”
The first meeting will be held Tuesday,November 10, 8AM at the Shandaken Town Hall. The second meeting will follow on Thursday,November 12, 8AM at the Middletown Town Hall. Refreshments will be offered at each meeting. Although focused on businesses, these meetings are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. An introductory presentation will provide a summary of progress on the scenic byway project and set forth a series of promotional ideas developed by a working group of the Collaborative. A discussion will then focus on generating further marketing strategies. Opportunities for listing and featuring businesses on the developing website will also be covered.
The Central Catskills Collaborative is a group of municipal representatives from Olive to Andes who came together in 2008 to promote the resources along the Route 28 Corridor. The Collaborative works closely with the Route 28 Municipal Leaders Group and the Central Catskills Chamber. For further information please contact Carol O’Beirne at (845) 586-3300.
