“In Bloom, a bouquet of flower art” Paintings by Oneida Hammond, Patrice Lorenz, and Alix Hallman Travis; Ceramics and ikebana by Sumiko Patrone the Commons Gallery Saturday, May 7-Sunday, May 31, 2016 You are invited to wander among an array of blooming flowers from fields, roadsides, gardens and the porch as captured by local painters, Oneida Hammond, Patrice Lorenz, and Alix Hallman Travis, joined by potter and practitioner of ikebana, Japanese flower arranging, Sumiko Patrone. This arrangement of blossom paintings and pottery marks the Commons Gallery’s participation in the Spring on Main celebration on Main Street, Margaretville, Saturday, May 14. The flowers depicted move from literal representations, to the impressionistic, all the way to the abstract--filling the entire gallery with luminous buds and blooms of every kind and color. Patrone’s flower bejeweled porcelain pieces will be centered by an ikebana flower arrangement, . The viewer can almost smell aroma! The exhibit, “In Bloom” opens May 7 and will run through May 30. As you visit the festival exhibits, stores and vendors along Main Street, Margaretville stop in and smell the roses at the Commons Gallery, Commons Building, Main Street, Margaretville.
