Event Name:Maple Festival at the Ashokan Center

Description:SUNDAY, MARCH 12 – 10AM TO 4PM MAPLE FEST featuring TREE TAPPING 
You're invited to The Ashokan Center's annual Maple Fest event featuring an array of fun, family-friendly activities! Admission is just $5 per person at the door (with an additional charge for pancakes and crafts). The complete lineup is as follows:

Tree Tapping 
Learn how sap is collected from maple trees--a practice first performed by the indigenous people of North America and later adopted by European settlers. 
Join us in the Blacksmithing Shop where an Ashokan Center instructor will guide you through the process of forging a wrought-iron fire poker, heart-shaped trivet or plant hanger. Projects are $7 each and are yours to take home. Recommended for ages 8 and older. Please bring a long-sleeved shirt and closed-toe shoes. 
Hike to the Ashokan Sugar Shack 
See a demonstration of how the sap collected from maple trees is turned into sweet maple syrup--one of the first farmed products in the United States.  
Hike to Cathedral Gorge and Turnwood Covered Bridge - Noon and 2 p.m.

Wind & Stone,11 a.m. performs music in a variety of genres including Rock, Pop, R&B, Folk and Jazz.
