For the first time inn over seven years, KlezKamp, a five-day immersion in traditional Yiddish music and dance, returns to the Catskills this summer.
Henry Sapoznik, camp founder and director, originally started KlezKamp in the 1980s after teachng banjo at an Ashokan Fiddle & Dance Camp.
Inspired, he decided to create a similar camp for traditional Yiddish music and dance. KlezKamp ran for over 30 years in a different Catskills location, offering music, dance, and deep cultural connection. Now, it returns to the Ashokan Center!
KlezKamp features instrumental and vocal music classes, dance tune forms (such as bulgars, zhoks, and shers), improvisational doinas, Yiddish vaudeville songs, folk dances, jams, lectures, and more!
