Johanna of Franklin Eyewear LLC will be here at Fairview Library on March 3, 2018 from 11am-1pm for an eyeglass adjustment and repair “clinic”.
There is no need for an appointment. Just come in between 11:00 and 1:00 with your glasses, and Johanna will have all the necessary tools to fix them (ie. To have them straightened, tightened, loosened, etc).
Repairs will be free unless a new frame is required, and then Johanna has some low-cost options to offer. Glasses can also be ordered through Johanna, but you would need a valid prescription from your eye doctor.

Fleischmanns First Maple Festival 2018
.
Invitation to All Bakers, Artists and Runners for 2018 Fleischmanns’ Maple Festival

Fleischmanns, NY--Although there is a lot of snow on the ground, spring is not so far off when the age old tradition of tapping the maple trees will begin in earnest. Whether done with old fashion metal taps and a metal bucket or the new plastic taps that hook into plastic tubing, the sap will be running and the new maple syrup once known as liquid gold will be ready.
On the Saturday and Sunday March 24th and 25th , Fleischmanns First, for the seventh year,  will  host its Maple Festival to celebrate the new season’s maple syrup production with a weekend full of activities and events inspired by and celebrating the tradition of turning maple sap into maple syrup!

Everything Maple, a pop up retail store, returns with more maple items including maple cream, last year’s most requested product. Vendors wishing to participate should email Paula DeSimone at

Maple on Main Art Exhibit, is our art show of maple inspired artwork. The Saturday Artist reception was well attended and several pieces sold. We will continue with the show this year at 1053 Main Street on Saturday and Sunday. Artists are invited to submit works that feature and/or celebrate the maple etc . Please contact Kathleen Green at Kathleeng97@gmail.com for more information. An Artists’ Reception will take place from 4-6pm on March 24th.
The Sap House 5K Run/Walk registration begins at 1053 Main Street at 10:45 on March 25th, however, all runners and walkers are invited to submit their registrations in advance of March 1 and pay a reduced entrance fee of $30.  Registrants will receive lunch, event t-shirt and awards. The route will follow Main Street to Big Red Kill past the Davis Sugar Shack and back returning via Wagner Avenue. The application and guidelines are posted at www.centralcatskills.org  and www.Fleischmannsny.com .

The Maple Bake-Off Café will pop up again this year at 1053 Main Street, Fleischmanns on Sunday, March 25th from 1-4 pm. Bakers are encouraged to select a category: cakes, pies, cookies, muffins and noshables, in which to enter their baked goods made with maple syrup or maple sugar as an ingredient. Our judges this year include Scott Finley of Two Old Tarts, Michael Cioffi of The Phoenicia Diner, and Amelia Hegeman of Zephyr. A Blue Ribbon winner in each category will be awarded. Baking contest guidelines and applications are available through Mark Project, 586-3500, www.centralcatskills.org and www.Fleischmannsny.com

Other Maple Festival events include, on March 24th,  Maple Pancake Breakfast, 8-11am, Children’s Maple Themed Crafts, noon-1pm, presentation of History of Maple Sugaring , 2pm at Skene and wagon rides to the Davis Farm sugar shack, 1-3pm at the Gazebo. And on March 25th join us for the Crowning of the Maple Court at 1pm at the Café.
