CWC Approves Funding for Many Septic Repairs and Replacements and Wastewater Projects in the Watershed
ARKVILLE, N.Y., November 8, 2022– On November 1, the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) Board of Directors approved funding for many projects under the Septic Repair and Replacement Program and Wastewater Programs.

Twenty-Six homeowners in 15 towns in Delaware, Greene, Sullivan and Ulster Counties were awarded reimbursement grants for septic repairs or replacements to provide functioning septic systems throughout the Watershed. Construction will be completed by contractors of the homeowner’s choosing. Homeowners experiencing septic issues are encouraged to contact CWC directly.

The Board also approved a flood hazard mitigation project in the Town of Shandaken. The Town of Shandaken approved NYCDEP Funded Flood Buyout of two properties in the Town on Plank Road. Following review of bids, the CWC Board awarded the Tweedie Construction Services, Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder. Property owners in hamlets and villages in the West of Hudson Watershed are encouraged to contact CWC for information regarding grants for projects to mitigate future flood damage.]

The CWC Board also approved funding for DEP required stormwater construction costs for a property owner in the Town of Hunter under the Future Stormwater Program. This project consists of constructing 13 single-family homes, subsurface sewage treatment system, a driveway, site regrading and stormwater controls. The stormwater controls will include raingardens for each individual house as well as two bio-retention areas, two stormwater management ponds and a raingarden to treat runoff from the access road.  Property owners who have applied for or received NYCDEP Stormwater Permit are encouraged to contact CWC for possible reimbursement.
