Event Description

On the nights of August 7th and 8th Tom Rankin, past President of the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association, will be hosting astronomy presentations at the summit of Balsam Lake Mountain. Tom will be at the Fire Tower both Friday and Saturday nights at dark, weather permitting, with binoculars and a small telescope. He will be showing several astronomical favorites from the Night Sky and discuss upcoming astronomical events such as the Perseid Meteor shower and the lunar eclipse. Be sure to bring a headlamp for your descent in the dark or plan on staying at the nearby Balsam Lake Mountain Lean-to (there is no camping at the summit per NYSDEC regulations).
